a wax method

Lost Wax Method (cire perdue) is process of making the metal model by first creating  wax model and forming a mould around it, then removing the wax by heating and hollow space is filled with molten metal for casting. This ancient method which is believed to be created in Greece in 300 B.C., is still practicing among Newari sculpture maker. This method makes artisans to give complexity of their design. It is time consuming and needs soft hand for wax work to rough hand for metal work. It has distinctly five stages:-

Over 100 years.....
In Min Nath Temple yard opposite to Machhendra Nath Temple, a huge pair of brass made lion guards is roaring for 100 years with goddess Tara sitting on them. These lions have unique art at Patan. They are established by my late grand father Hira Man Shakya on auspicious 5 th birth day of his son Singh Raj Shakya. Later the son was died of diarrhoea.  (Craft owner)

Pashmina is the softest natural fibre obtained from, the neck & underbelly of the rare species of the capra hircus mountain goat. These goats live at 4000m to 4500m altitude and can not be reared elsewhere. Pashmina fibre is 14 to16 microns thick this means it is about one sixth of a human hair. More Inside
